Maintain the vessels in a state of readiness to perform work for customers as needed. Perform work as directed by captain and/or mate of vessel and assist engineer as requested. Job includes pulling and handling heavy lines, wires, and hoses; working on oil and cargo barges; safely making and breaking tow with barges; general vessel maintenance; and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
Responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities including completion of bills of lading and gauge reports.
Responsible for the day to day operation of Harley Marine Gulf. Supervises all department managers and responsible for revenue and profitability of the Company.

Perform routine maintenance requirements on a fleet of tugs and barges as directed by the General Manager/Port Engineer. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures. Work with company mechanics as needed.
Schedule, coordinate, and perform vessel repair & maintenance, coordinate purchasing of parts and repair services and supplies, schedule routine maintenance requirements for tugs and barges. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures. Keep Tugs and Barges in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Keep accurate records of all maintenance preformed using company program.
Acts as lead or second in command of the tug and barge. Must be able to understand and carry out the orders and directions of the captain. Must be prepared to assume command in the event of incapacity of the captain. Responsible for safely making and breaking tow with barges, transit locks and bridges during High and low water conditions. Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of the vessel.
